No More Knee Pain: How Kinesiology Helped Stacy Return to Tennis & Pain-Free Movement

Stacy came to Corrective Muscle Solutions struggling for over a year with persistent left knee pain that radiated both up and down her leg. The MRI showed fissures in the cartilage, a title off the axis of the patella, degeneration of medial meniscus and complex tear of the lateral meniscus.

Her knee was a proverbial mess with such a complex mix of material damage, distorted alignment and complete muscular dysfunction that several orthopedic surgeons turned her down for surgery due to the complex mix of the problems - their recommendation was to wait it out with whatever treatments she could as long as possible and eventually get it replaced.

This was a pretty grim conclusion, but she nonetheless tried everything from PRP injections to chiropractic & physical therapy. However, it was not going well. She continued to struggle and feared giving up playing tennis due to the pain and loss of function.

Though Stacy does have issues locally at the knee; what made it deceiving to others and made the knee reluctant to respond was a long history of other issues that were not allowing her to do the work needed at the knee.

We had to clear out an interwoven pattern of compensation from other issues that were influencing the ability to work at the knee with control and without pain. As we peeled the layers away, Stacy was able to use the muscles around the knee without being so impeded by other factors. This allowed us to build up the strength and stability around the knee and reset the joint alignment to track properly for her specific knee shape.

Today, Stacy is happy to say that she still plays her beloved tennis games and continues to experience progress with each session she has with us. She’s been able to avoid unnecessary surgery, get stronger, and play tennis 4-5 times a week!
