Starting Process

How to Get Started

Step One: Becoming a Client

To become a client, you will first be scheduled for an initial evaluation so that we can assess the state of your muscular system. Call Lauren to schedule your initial evaluation or click on the button below - “Become a Client.” Lauren will reach out with the next evaluation opening. Once scheduled, you will be added to our online booking system.

Immediately upon booking your initial evaluation you will be emailed a link to an intake package - the sender will be “Lauren Frost".” Check your spam if you do not see it at first. IF you do not receive the email for any reason please contact Lauren at 512-788-7691 right away so the forms can be re-sent.

All the forms are guided through an online system. There is an opportunity to attach additional files such as an MRI or X-Ray report. Please fill out the forms in as much detail as possible. Your intake package must be submitted 48 hours prior to your initial evaluation so that we can complete the date preparation and analysis.

If forms are not received 48 hours prior to your appointment time we will have to reschedule your session.

Step Two: Initial Evaluation

We need to tell the story of your system. If we can see where it has been, it can give us clues to understand where you are and how to get you to the other side.

Your initial session will take approximately 75 minutes your kinesiologist will clarify any aspects of your history that need more information or context to understand from your intake.

Then he will give you an overview of our approach so that you understand the scientific process and empower you to actively participate in the process. This will also be your opportunity to ask questions of your own.

Then your kinesiologist will begin with a series of assessments that are meant to the necessary collect data to give an indication as to where to begin treatment and provide a good starting point.

At the conclusion of your treatment session, your practitioner will advise you on the optimal time frame in which to schedule your next session in order to continuously make progress.

Treatment Pricing

  • Initial Evaluation (75 minutes) - $275

  • Corrective Treatment Session (60 minutes) - $240

Material Concerns & Referring Out

If during the course of the evaluation, we discover anything of concern, we may require that you to be examined by a medical provider to clear the possibility of a structural issue or underlying condition.

In such cases we would need said provider to clear you to begin muscular strengthening whether problem is discovered or not. This is for your ultimate care so that work does not irritate or worsen a serious underlying condition that could require surgery or medical intervention.

Session Progress & Frequency

Phase One: Managing The Onion of Pain

The Pain Onion of Dysfunction

Dysfunction is like an onion. You start with somethings in the middle and then you start wrapping layers around it. You carry this through life and it gets a lump here or there, and wraps layers around that. At some point, you cut it open to reveal many layers with many little bulbs inside of the bigger onion.

The longer an issue has been there, the more layers have wrapped around you, and the longer it takes to peel them back. If it took you a long time to get into this situation, it could take a long time to get out of it. We just don't know until we start peeling layers and restoring function.

When starting out, chances are you are in a pain onion of dysfunction.

As you start working with your kinesiologist, you are dealing with active problems of pain and just beginning the work to recover function. Session frequency is based on duration of time before return of pain. You want to stay a step ahead of the system in its adaptation. Your kinesiologist will have you start with a test window of 1 week just to see what happens and adjust based on the feedback.

Extending the Dosing Window

Once a good beginning window of time is established between sessions (typically between 5-8 days), we will slowly increase time between until you have pushed it out to the maximum of your adaptation window without falling into the pain cave - this is called extending the dosing window.

For example, If someone can go 8 days without pain but starts to feel funky around the 9th day, and then crappy around the 9th or 10th day, we would want to get in a session around the 8th or 9th day to give a boost to the system before pain erodes the stress buffer. Then the goal is to get that time to extend longer until you’ve maxed it out. That is the frequency you keep until you no longer have regular pain and we can shift the conversation to maintenance and/or expansion of capability.

Our goal is to make the adjustments to move the work forward on your primary issue without allowing it to stall out or degrade. We want to get your system to hold onto the positive stimulus as long as possible so that ultimately you can maintain at a frequency that falls roughly into the maintenance category for age (which can be more or even much less based on your individual genetics and movement/workout history).

Combatting Age-Related Decline

When it comes to healthy individuals who are maintaining strength in order to keep pace with their lives and/or slowing age decline, we still have to account for age as a factor in what is called the “age-related degradation of adaptation.”

Below is a chart of the maintenance dosing frequency of sessions for healthy individuals (without pain) who participate in regular exercise routines. These are general trends that have been observed over the years and applies to how you can manage the influence of age on motor function. For dealing with acute pain and compounded dysfunction, see section above.
